Communication is the Key to Success
Communication is the Key to Success
It is my firm belief that if people spent another two or three minutes in each and every conversation making sure they fully understood the other persons, needs, wants and desires, the stress in the world would be decreased by half. Your relationship with your Realtor or Attorney or Hair Stylist for that matter is extremely important and communication is critical. Otherwise, you may receive a result which you didn’t plan for. Imagine going to your hairstylist and asking for “something different”? You would never do that. Likewise, you would never ask your Realtor to find me any house? You want a home that meets your needs? You want to sell your home for the best price, so you need to rely on their professional advice.
In the beginning of the Realtor-Client relationship, it is important that you establish the parameters up front. I’m not talking about the usual communications like selling price, number of bedrooms or bathrooms, I’m talking about why you are selling or buying the property? Your concerns? Your needs? What you expect out of the relationship? Your Realtor has been through this process before with many other buyers and sellers, and they can answer all of your questions. This may be your first time buying a property, and it’s ok to have questions.
But your Realtor is not a mind reader, so go ahead and ask them the tough questions. Tell them your concerns. It’s ok. If they cannot answer your question on the spot, I’m sure they will find the answer and get back to you. With open and honest communication comes trust. If you are uncomfortable with something or simply do not understand something, it is ok to ask about it. Your Realtor want the buying and selling experience to be a wonderful experience, and they should encourage questions about the entire process.
